Wednesday the 6th of June and on a cold winters night the latest South Australian Micro Brewers Association meeting was held at the newest brewery in S.A....The Lobethal Bierhaus

Over a roaring wood fire, SAMBA members discussed all things beer and brewing related. During the nights proceedings all had a sampling of the great ales on offer, combined with a fantastic food experience.

Recently opened the Lobethal Bierhaus a.k.a. Adelaide Hills Craft Brewing is the newest addition the strongly growing S.A. Micro brewing industry by business partners Alistair and Phil.

Commendations must go to the two boys and the team at Lobethal for creating such a fantastic new venue. The premises are set in the recently renovated old woollen mill in the main street. A brand new 1200L copper and stainless steel brewery sits glistening behind the glass sidewall like the true showpiece it is, while the spacious dining area beckons toward the trendy bar.

And the beers... It was fantastic to try the newly handcrafted brews on offer, on the taps where a Hefe-Weizen (wheat beer), an American pale ale and a brown porter (dark ale).

The Hefe is destined to be a summer favourite with a vanilla aroma, followed by a refreshing slightly fruity flavour, and a dry quenching finish.

The Pale is that of American pale ale style, and thus has a bold citrus/ fruity aroma and flavour backed up by a solid bitterness. This one is definitely for those seeking the hop hit!Ê

The porter comes across as having a sweet toffee aroma, followed by a rich, complex flavour blend of chewy caramel, toffee and chocolate malts. And with a fuller body, this is one to sit and enjoy in moderation.

So do yourself a favour and support the local microbrewers and drop in the brand new Lobethal Bierhaus next time your in the Adelaide Hills.

Alistair and Phil love to see new faces, and if the roaring trade they have been doing is any sign, Lobethal Bierhaus is a hot place to visit, so you may have to book ahead.
